Cheryl Hines feels “liberated” by her return to Curb Your Enthusiasm

Curb Your Enthusiasm is back and actress Cheryl Hines feels “liberated” to have returned to the show.

Hines, who plays Larry David’s now ex-wife on the show, has built up a fair bit of history with the fictional Larry over the years, and the show’s return this week showed the two of them still floating in the same circles, despite Cheryl’s continued frustrations with her ex.

She isn’t alone in her anguish of course and the actress revealed that part of her wishes the two could still be together.

“I miss being married to Larry,” Hines revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, “There is a world in which I think we belong together.”

Hines also talked about what it was like returning to Curb – a show where the dialogue is largely improvised – and that the only thing that’s really changed is her.

“It’s a little

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season Nine Ratings

Larry David is finally back on HBO with a ninth season of his Curb Your Enthusiasm TV show. A semi-autobiographical, scripted HBO comedy, Curb Your Enthusiasm stars co-creator Larry David as a fictionalized version of himself. 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Cast on How the Premiere Kicker Impacts the Season

Curb Your Enthusiasm has returned after six years and, as promised ahead of the HBO comedy's highly anticipated Oct. 1 launch, not much has changed.

Larry David's TV alter ego was still thrusting himself into uncomfortable situations — this time, crossing international borders when a fatwa is issued against him — and catching up with the people in his life, including manager Jeff Greene (Jeff Garlin) and his foulmouthed better half Susie (Susie Essman), favorite freeloader Leon Black (J.B. Smoove) and ex-wife Cheryl David (Cheryl Hines).

But is one of those relationships ready for a change?

During a blink-and-you'll-miss-it...

Best TV Shows to See in October: 'Curb,' Tracy Morgan and 'The Walking Dead'

If we had to look for a theme for this month's TV offerings, we might go with: Chaos Reigns. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend promises to devote its third season to a revenge plot; the one-man disruptive force known as Larry David resuscitates his antisocial HBO masterpiece Curb Your Enthusiasm; Fox's new superhero show The Gifted features mutants on the run from government-sanctioned extermination; Riverdale is back with more warped Archie sex and violence; and The Walking Dead returns with both hungry "walkers" and all-out war. All this, and brand new Dynasty remake.

‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Season 9 Premiere Finally Reveals What Larry Has Been Doing For the Last Six Years

‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Season 9 Premiere Finally Reveals What Larry Has Been Doing For the Last Six Years
Few television series — especially those just unspooling their long-awaited ninth season — would be bold enough to trade on the concept that absolutely nothing has changed over the intervening years. Characters grow, situations change. But Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is not just any television series.

Six years after the HBO series wrapped its eighth season, Hollywood’s favorite malcontent is back, and he’s the exact same curmudgeon audiences love (and his friends love to hate). The Larry David of “Curb” doesn’t evolve, and never learns, and HBO has even made that the backbone of the show’s marketing campaign: This season’s official trailer literally boasts that “nothing has changed.”

Nonetheless, it was a long hiatus, and although the cameras weren’t rolling, surely Larry got into plenty of misunderstandings and stepped into countless of awkward situations during the intervening years. The last season saw him and

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 Premiere: Was It Worth the Wait?

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 Premiere: Was It Worth the Wait?
Larry is pretty, pretty, pretty much a dead man walking by the conclusion of Sunday’s long-anticipated Season 9 premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

PhotosCurb Your Enthusiasm: The 12 Worst Things Larry Has Ever Done, Ranked

As we learn at the top of the super-sized opener, Larry David’s lead curmudgeon has spent the past five years working on a new musical titled simply and provocatively Fatwa! The Musical. Word of the top-scret, Ayatollah Khomeini-skewering project gets out via Larry himself during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and, needless to say, the Iran’s Ayatollah is not amused. In fact,

Yes, Somebody Really Asked Susie Essman to Do a Curb Your Enthusiasm Tirade at Her Mother-in-Law's Wake

Yes, Somebody Really Asked Susie Essman to Do a Curb Your Enthusiasm Tirade at Her Mother-in-Law's Wake
Susie Essman is known for the expletive-laden Curb Your Enthusiasm tirades she dolls out weekly as Susie Green. So known in fact people often approach her and ask her to cure them out in some very inappropriate settings. "At a wake," Essman said was the most inappropriate place she was asked to scream at somebody. "At my mother-in-law's wake, actually, somebody did that to me. They just wanted me to tell them to go you know what, and I'm just like, 'I'm at my mother-in-law's wake.'" Some of the most infamous Susie tirades include screaming at Larry David (played by Larry David) and her TV husband Jeff (Jeff Garlin) over a missing dog, a missing doll head and a drunk daughter....

‘Curb Your Enthusiam’ Gang Celebrates Long-Awaited Return at New York Premiere

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” gang was ready to party on Wednesday night as they gathered in New York for the show’s ninth season premiere.

HBO chief Richard Plepler noted that the show’s return (after a six-year hiatus) makes it the longest-running scripted series on HBO, chronologically and by the number of seasons. He called series star Larry David “the William Butler Yeats of comedy” for the exacting work he puts in to make the show look so easy.

The crowd agreed that David is back in rare form, mining gold out of the idiosyncratic stuff of everyday life. As he greeted a receiving-line of well-wishers at the after-party, one party-goer waiting patiently for a handshake confided in his date: “He hates this. I just know he hates this.”

To hear the cast members tell it, season nine of “Curb” won’t be the last. They’re having too much fun after the long absence.

After an extended six-year hiatus, the beloved HBO sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm is finally returning to a small screen near you on October 1. And along with it comes everybody’s favorite ruthlessly unrepentant curmudgeon who refuses to comply with the general rules of common decency and decorum, Larry David.

The comedy star and Seinfeld co-creator joined his fellow Curb cast mates, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, Susie Essman, and J.B. Smoove, on Wednesday morning’s episode of NBC News’ Today to talk about what precipitated his show’s long-anticipated return, what this season has in store for fans, and let
