Richard Anderson, who simultaneously played Oscar Goldman, leader of secret government agent the Osi, on both “The Six Million Dollar Man” and “The Bionic Woman” after a long career as a supporting actor in film and TV, died on Thursday in his Beverly Hills home. He was 91.

Anderson famously intoned the words heard in voiceover in the opening credits of “The Six Million Dollar Man”: “Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world’s first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better … stronger … faster.”

Anderson was one of a handful of actors who’ve played the same character simultaneously on more than one series on an ongoing basis; some actors in the “Law & Order” franchise made occasional or special appearances on another “Law & Order” series, but were not seen regularly on more than one series.

Update: Guillermo del Toro’s Fantastic Voyage to start shooting next year

Back in January 2016 it was announced that Guillermo del Toro was in talks to direct a remake of the classic 1966 sci-fi Fantastic Voyage, and while his involvement is yet to be officially confirmed it now looks like the project has a start date.

According to Omega Underground, the film is set to begin production in January in Toronto, Canada. David S. Goyer (Blade II) has penned the script, while James Cameron is producing through his Lightstorm Entertainment for 20th Century Fox.

The original film was directed by Richard Fleischer and follows a team of Americans who are miniaturised and injected into the body of a important scientist in order to remove a blood clot from his brain and save his life.

Update: According to Deadline, Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment have put the brakes on pre-production to allow del Toro time for a possible awards run with The Shape of Water.

TCM's Pride Month Series Continues with Movies Somehow Connected to Lgbt Talent

Turner Classic Movies continues with its Gay Hollywood presentations tonight and tomorrow morning, June 8–9. Seven movies will be shown about, featuring, directed, or produced by the following: Cole Porter, Lorenz Hart, Farley Granger, John Dall, Edmund Goulding, W. Somerset Maughan, Clifton Webb, Montgomery Clift, Raymond Burr, Charles Walters, DeWitt Bodeen, and Harriet Parsons. (One assumes that it's a mere coincidence that gay rumor subjects Cary Grant and Tyrone Power are also featured.) Night and Day (1946), which could also be considered part of TCM's homage to birthday girl Alexis Smith, who would have turned 96 today, is a Cole Porter biopic starring Cary Grant as a posh, heterosexualized version of Porter. As the warning goes, any similaries to real-life people and/or events found in Night and Day are a mere coincidence. The same goes for Words and Music (1948), a highly fictionalized version of the Richard Rodgers-Lorenz Hart musical partnership.

Robert Downey Jr will headline The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle...

Robert Downey Jr. will grunt, squeak, squawk and talk with the animals in Universal’s upcoming The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle. The film will be directed by Stephen Gaghan (Syriana, Gold) based on a screenplay he wrote that had an earlier draft written by Tom Shepherd. Universal won the rights to the film after a competitive battle for the project.

The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle is based on the character from Hugh Lofting series of children’s books from the 1920s, The Story of Doctor Dolittle, The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle and Doctor Dolittle's Circus.

The story was first made into a film in 1967 when Richard Fleischer directed the musical Doctor Dolittle starring Rex Harrison. Eddie Murphy played the eccentric former physician in the 1998 Dr. Doolittle and its 2001 sequel, Dr. Dolittle 2.
