Days of Our Lives: 2017-18 Season Ratings (updated 1/19/18)

Despite Days of Our Lives being the lowest-rated of the four remaining network soap operas, NBC hasn't dropped it. It looked like the network might cancel the series last season but they renewed it in February 2017. Will it be renewed for the 2018-19 season (season 54) or, is this venerable soap in its final days? The results are in from the We Love Soaps "Soap of the Week" poll for January 8-12, 2018. NBC's Days of our Lives was voted favorite soap opera by our readers for the week.

ABC's General Hospital was second, followed by CBS' The Young and the Restless.

Days of Our Lives: NBC Exec Discusses Soap's Future

Hey Salemites, there's some good news coming out of the TCA summer press tour. When asked about the status of Days of Our Lives, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke had some encouraging words, about the soap, since new head-writer Ron Carlivati's episodes began airing on July 19th, 2017. Soap Opera Digest reports Salke said, “We’re feeling really great about the new team in place and we’re evaluating it as it goes.... We love the new Days and we hope it stays on the schedule forever … Everyone’s feeling really good.”A soap opera, Days of Our Lives first premiered on November 8, 1965. ‘General Hospital,’ ‘The Bay: The Series’ Win Big at Daytime Emmys

ABC’s “General Hospital” dominated last night’s Daytime Emmy Awards winning its 12th Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. “General Hospital” bested CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful,” NBC’s “Days of Our Lives,” and CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” “General Hospital” actor Tyler Christopher earned his first Emmy for his performance as Nikolas Cassadine in the lead actor category. Meanwhile Christopher’s co-star Sean Blakemore also picked up his first Emmy in the supporting actor category for his role as Shawn Butler. Mary Beth Evans won two awards for acting last night. Evans nabbed her first Emmy in the lead actress category for her portrayal of Kayla Brady on “Days of Our Lives.” Evans also won for the digital daytime drama “The Bay: The Series.” “The Bay: The Series” swept the digital daytime drama series categories winning both for Evans in the actress category, and Kristos Andrews in the actor category.

CBS daytime drama “The Young and the Restless” leads this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards with 27 total nominations. ABC’s “General Hospital” (24 nominations), CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” (23) and NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (16) follow.
