To Understand ‘Hood Adjacent With James Davis’ We Need to Talk About Golf
James Davis’ new Comedy Central show “Hood Adjacent” wants to bridge divides by talking about everything from gangs… to golf. Davis grew up in South Central, Los Angeles, in what he calls the “hood,” but went to a mostly white college prep school in seaside Santa Monica. When he was cut from the basketball team in middle school, his mother signed him up for golf lessons. He was good. At one point, he wanted to be the next Tiger Woods. Based on his current career path — stand-up comedian, host of the “Urban Dictionary” live show at the Nerdmelt Showroom in La,

‘South Park’ Season 20 First Clips: The Town Creates a New National Anthem for Colin Kaepernick
The long-running Comedy Central animated series “South Park” gained notoriety last season when it adopted a serialized narrative using the topic of political correctness as a running theme. IndieWire’s own Ben Travers gave the series’ 19th season an “A” grade and said that it “reinforced its relevancy” after many years on the air. Now, “South Park” returns for its 20th season and has debuted its first two clips. The first plays on the Colin Kaepernick controversy by featuring the entire town of “South Park” singing a new mocking national anthem with lyrics like, “Colin Kaepernick is brave / Cops are pigs, cops are pigs / Wait, someone just took my stuff / I need to call the cops.” The second is a more traditional teaser featuring a census worker asking Randy Marsh who he will vote for in the upcoming presidential election.

It Came From The Tube: Satan’S Triangle (1975)

No, this title doesn’t refer to being the last one to arrive in music class and getting stuck with the lamest of instruments to play. Satan’s Triangle (1975) is a creepy, seafaring TV tale of supernatural mystery with an ending that absolutely kills. You may think the title tells all, and the journey can’t quite supplant the destination, but oh boy, what a destination. You’re going to need your sea legs for this finale.

For those not familiar with The Bermuda Triangle, aka The Devil’s Triangle, it is an area of water loosely configured between Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Florida that was privy to many disappearances – boats, planes, and people. And back in the ‘70s, long before the internet, the only information to go on about this and other phenomena (Hey Bigfoot!) was provided by speculative quasidocumentaries, scientific journals dispelling the myths, and TV fodder such as Satan’s Triangle.

Comedy Central launched on Snapchat’s Discover channel — a venue for content from various publishers and media outlets — in January 2015, and was one of its inaugural partners. In February, Viacom struck a pact with the social-media company that will allow the New York entertainment conglomerate to sell U.S. advertising for Snapchat and bundle it into packages with its TV clients.

The Beginning or the End

Stop! Don't touch that dial... if you like your atom-age propaganda straight up, MGM has the movie for you, an expensive 1946 docu-drama that became 'the official story' for the making of the bomb. The huge cast includes Brian Donlevy, Robert Walker, Tom Drake, Audrey Totter, Hume Cronyn, Hurd Hatfield, and Joseph Calleia. How trustworthy is the movie? It begins by showing footage of a time capsule being buried -- that supposedly contains the film we are watching. Think about that. Mom, Apple Pie, the Flag and God are enlisted to argume that we should stop worrying and love the fact that bombs are just peachy-keen dandy. Running each day on Comedy Central’s Snapchat Discover channel, Stalled tells the story of an apathetic mall worker (played by Benjamin) who would rather spend his time being lazy in the bathroom than doing his job. Stalled marks Comedy Central’s first scripted original series for release on Snapchat.
