Michael Bay Reflects on His Career as He Receives Hands and Feet Honor

Michael Bay Reflects on His Career as He Receives Hands and Feet Honor
On May 23, Michael Bay will have his hands and feet encased in cement outside the iconic Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, alongside classic stars from Marilyn Monroe to Meryl Streep. While Bay is thrilled, he does have one hesitation. “I just remember as a kid, going to see the handprints and I always thought the people who got this honor were so much older,” he says with a laugh.”

For the record, Bay is a youthful 52, but it’s a credit to his career that his accomplishments over the past 20 years have put him in the ranks of his mentors Steven Spielberg and super producer Jerry Bruckheimer, both of whose imprints are also in the Chinese forecourt. And it’s full circle for Bay, a native Angeleno who discovered he wanted to be a director at that very theater.

At age 15, Bay was working at Lucasfilm, filing storyboards for “Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Gabriele Muccino Set to Shoot Road Movie ‘Summertime’ With Up-and-Coming Cast (Exclusive)
Rome — Italian director with Hollywood credentials Gabriele Muccino (“The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Seven Pounds”) is set to shoot “Summertime,” an ensemble coming-of-age/road movie set in Rome, San Francisco, New Orleans and Cuba “about four youths in that unique unrepeatable formative phase after high school, before college, during which they crack the shell of adolescence,” he said.

For the four main roles in this mostly English-language pic, Muccino has cast Matilda Lutz, the emerging Italian actress who will play the lead in the next chapter in the “Ring” franchise; locally hot Italian TV actor Brando Pacitto (“Braccialetti Rossi”); and young U.S. actors Joseph Haro (“Glee,” “Welcome to the Family”) and Taylor Frey (“Gossip Girl,” G.B.F.).

The two U.S. thesps — cast by prominent casting agent Denise Chamian, who worked with Muccino on his Will Smith-starrers — will play a young gay couple whom the Italian characters, Marco and Maria,

3 New The Maze Runner Clips and James Dashner Walk and Talk Featurette

  • Collider.com
Almost any film can end up with a sleekly edited trailer, but film clips are different. Sure, they’re completely out of context, but there’s no better way to get a good sense of tone and the potential of the performances than by seeing a more comprehensive version of a scene. 20th Century Fox just unveiled three brand new clips from their September 19th release, The Maze Runner, and if their intensity is any indication, the full feature is going to be one heck of a film. Hit the jump to catch all three The Maze Runner clips as well as a featurette of author James Dashner touring the set of the film. Let’s start with this one via IGN: How good is that? Again, it’s completely out of context and you don’t even know these characters yet, but thanks to a spot-on shot selection, powerful

Roid Rage Bashes Bay’S Satire On The American Dream

Scott Foundas

@foundasonfilm

Score: 5/10

The large-scale destructiveness he has previously wreaked upon public and private property (including entire cities), Michael Bay visits on the human body in “Pain & Gain,” a pulverizing steroidal farce based on a bizarre-but-true kidnapping-and-murder case. Suggesting “Fargo” by way of the Three Stooges, Bay’s latest certainly proves that the “Transformers” auteur does have something more than jacked-up robots on his mind: specifically, jacked-up muscle men who will stop at nothing to achieve their deeply twisted notion of the American dream. With a very fine ensemble cast recruited to play an array of overtly despicable characters, this unapologetically vulgar, sometimes quite funny, often stomach-churning bacchanal will surely prove too extreme for great swathes of the multiplex crowd. But the marquee value of topliners Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, plus the pic’s reportedly modest $25 million pricetag,

Twitter Campaign Lands Blake Cooper A Role In The Maze Runner

It.s one thing that Twitter has made a huge dent in the way that news gets revealed, but it.s another thing entirely to consider Twitter actually being used to make the news itself. And I.m not talking about suggestive pictures either, because that would probably be highly illegal in this case. Instead, this is a story about how young actor Blake Cooper was able to use social media site to land a role in the upcoming film The Maze Runner Wes Ball, the director of the James Dashner adaptation, was recently bombarded on Twitter by Cooper, who sent the filmmaker a bunch of messages claiming, .I.m your Chuck!,. referring to the youngest character within the novel.s narrative. Apparently the Tweets led to Ball contacting Denise Chamian, a casting director for Fox, who reached out to Cooper. It was decided a video-recorded audition would be allowed,

Blake Cooper Tweets His Way to a Role in The Maze Runner

You know, Twitter has changed the world and the way that we interact within it. It has helped organize revolutions, report news, and now? Now it's led to a key role in the upcoming adaptation of James Dashner's The Maze Runner being cast.

Director Wes Ball just tweeted that Blake Cooper (pictured) got the pivotal role of Chuck in The Maze Runner. Cooper got Ball’s attention with a flurry of tweets to the director basically saying, “I’m your Chuck!” Ball finally connected the young actor with Fox’s casting director Denise Chamian, who allowed Cooper to send in a self-taped audition for the role. It got him the job. Seriously, how insane is that?

Cooper will join the previously announced Dylan O’Brien ("Teen Wolf"), Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Filming is set to begin in May in Baton Rouge for a February 14, 2014, release.
