But that wasn’t the case with his latest film, the historical drama “The Post.” At a Q&A on Monday night hosted by the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, Spielberg told the audience that he’d been able to get every single one of his first choices. No small feat, considering that the turnaround time on the movie clocked in at just nine months, dating from Spielberg’s first acceptance of the script to its first November screenings.

“So often when I make a movie, I have my first choices, and I don’t always get my first choices sometimes due to availability or sometimes actors don’t like the script enough to say yes to me or to anybody,” he said. “But everybody I wanted in the movie, they were available and they all said yes.

‘Web Therapy’ to Get British Remake by Channel 4, Stephen Mangan

Channel 4 has announced a raft of new commissions, including a new comedy series from “Episodes” star Stephen Mangan that’s based on “Web Therapy” and a thriller from “Boardwalk Empire” staff writer Bash Doran.

Mangan will co-write and star in the British adaptation of the Emmy-nominated “Web Therapy.” Doran is writing period thriller “Jerusalem,” her first original for U.K. television. Channel 4 also announced a one-off documentary exploring gender fluidity and a four-part factual series featuring Turner Prize-winning artist Grayson Perry. The four new commissions were announced Tuesday in Edinburgh on the eve of the Edinburgh Intl. Television Festival, which runs Aug. 23-25.

Mangan, who stars alongside Matt LeBlanc and Tamsin Greig in “Episodes” as a British sitcom writer whose show is horribly remade in the U.S., turns the tables with “Hang Ups.” He will co-write and appear in the new six-part half-hour sitcom adapted from “Web Therapy,” which

‘The Comeback’ Cast and EPs on Another Season: ‘It’s Always a Possibility’
Austin, Texas — At the Atx TV Festival, HBO’s “The Comeback” was still very much an object of TV fan adoration. Lisa Kudrow, Michael Patrick King, Dan Bucatinsky, and Laura Silverman joined moderator Abigail Spencer to reminisce about the fan-favorite comedy, and how the show returned to do a second season ten years after the first run.

They began the panel by taking a moment to pay tribute to Robert Michael Morris, who played Mickey Dean, Valerie’s hair stylist and confidant. Morris was supposed to join the group at Atx but passed away May 30.

“He’s the only person who could have played that part,” said Bucatinsky.

Kudrow made it clear that though the show was shot documentary style, “It was not about my experience on ‘Friends.'” She added, “I did send the writers cookies, but that’s because I love cookies, not so they’d write me more stuff.” King

King echoed her enthusiasm, contending that the television landscape is perfectly set up for a return of Valerie Cherish.
