Alien‭ ‬3:‭ ‬comparing the Assembly cut to the theatrical cut

Ryan Lambie Oct 21, 2016

The 30-minute longer Assembly Cut brings Alien 3 closer to David Fincher’s original vision. Ryan takes a look...

David Fincher‭’‬s first film was nearly his last.‭ ‬In the‭ ‬early part of‭ ‬1991,‭ ‬Fincher was better known as a director of commercials and movie videos,‭ ‬a‭ ‬29-year-old‭ ‬filmmaker‭ ‬who‭’‬d cut his teeth working‭ ‬as a special effects cameraman‭ ‬on Return Of The Jedi before making promos for Nike and Madonna.‭ ‬By the time Fincher signed up for Alien‭ ‬3,‭ ‬the production was already in disarray.‭ ‬The script had gone through draft after draft as screenwriters and directors came and went‭; ‬before filming had begun,‭ ‬Alien‭ ‬3‭ ‬had already hired and lost directors Renny Harlin and Vincent Ward,‭ ‬and writers Eric Red and William Gibson.

'Black Widow' in "Agent Carter"

Take another look @ the original 1940's-era, 'Red Room'-trained Soviet assassin 'Dottie Underwood' aka 'Black Widow' (Bridget Regan) who returned for Season 2 of "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.":

"Oh, she's a slippery bitch," said Peggy Atwell who plays 'Agent Carter'.

"We haven't seen the last of her. 'Peggy' has male baddies that she fights, but to have someone who is physically her equal -- she's a 'Black Widow', incredibly capable and very smart -- I think that shows some balance for Peggy, like a flip side of the same coin.

"You'll see more of her in Season 2."

In Season One, Dottie, a product of the 'Black Widow' program, worked alongside 'Dr. Ivchenko' (Ralph Brown) in order to locate a vial of 'Captain America' 'super-soldier' blood, obtained by 'Howard Stark' (Dominic Cooper)...

Film Review: Hard Tide

  • CineVue
★★☆☆☆ "Where you going to run? This is Margate!" yells the stocky Mr. Big of the over-familiar seaside crime thriller Hard Tide. This small town on the Kent coast seems an unlikely setting for nefarious doings but the film starts out as a convincing enough tale. Jake (Nathanael Wiseman) is a drug dealer and enforcer, a chippy skinhead who strides about the waterfront and housing estates with his bag of wares and the occasional duffing up to be delivered. He has a past of foster homes and a criminal kingpin father (Ralph Brown) who is about to go into prison and leave his estranged son in charge of the family business.
