2.6 Death Proof

Tonight's episode began with another obvious yet still true observation from Jughead - that we often wear masks that cover who we really are. Although this episode was written and filmed before the Harvey Weinstein/Louis Ck/et al stories broke, its impossible to view it outside of the context of that news cycle and how it gave rise to the #metoo movement. There's a lot going on in this week's episode but the most important element here is far and away the Cheryl/Nick/Veronica storyline. Last week we saw Nick St. Clair go transform from New York City-based textbook case

"I told you we were the same."

Okay, pick your jaw off of the floor and breathe, because that was one, exhilarting, eventful hour of television.

We are only five episodes in to this 22-episode season and the glacial pace that marked Riverdale's first season is but a memory at this point, because there's a lot that went down tonight. Before we get into the meat and potatoes of tonight's installment, a brief recap: The Black Hood tortures Betty by making her cut her friends out of her life unless he will murder them

2.4 The Town That Dreaded Sundown

At the end of tonight's exhilarating episode, Jughead grimly states that "Riverdale would no longer be the town with pep, from now on it would be the town that dreaded sundown." It's a completely melodramatic moment, one that beautifully illustrates how, early in its second season, the series is unafraid to double down on its inherent ridiculousness. It would be far easier for Riverdale to play its world of pixie stick-drug addicts, anachronistic gangs, and nonsensical musical performances with a nod and a wink. But the fact that everything is played so earnestly makes it work so much

Frozen Metallica Mashup Has Kristen Bell and Dave Grohl Rocking Out
Foo Fighter's front man Dave Grohl took over hosting duties for Jimmy Kimmel Live on Halloween night dressed as David Letterman. But Grohl couldn't just host. Instead, he enthusiastically backed up Kristen Bell on a thrash metal version of Frozen song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" mashed up with Metallica hit "Enter Sandman." While Grohl was dressed as David Letterman, full beard and all, he did his best to imitate Metallica's Lars Ulrich behind the kit while Bell channeled her inner James Hetfield on the mic.

While Dave Grohl's Halloween costume was tough to beat, Kristen Bell came out as Magnum P.I. (Tom Selleck}, complete with mustache, wig, Hawaiian shirt, and some sweet chest hair. During the main segment interview, Grohl expressed how happy his kids were that he got to hang out and interview Kristen Bell, aka Elsa from Frozen. Bell was on the show

"I'm Dave Grohl dressed as Dave Letterman sitting in for Jimmy Kimmel, it's confusing, I get it, especially if you're home watching right now stoned to the bone," the guest host said, donning a long white beard and a letterman jacket. Grohl wore the costume for the entirety of the episode.

Grohl's costume was an inspired choice as the Foo Fighters were recruited to perform on the

This is a version of Frozen parents can totally jam out to.

Kristen Bell ditched a Princess Anna costume to dress up as Tom Selleck’s Thomas Magnum from the hit ’80s TV series Magnum P.I. for her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday. However, the actress, 37, didn’t leave her Disney alter-ego at home completely as she channeled her popular character for a one-of-a-kind cover with none other than Dave Grohl, who filled in for Jimmy Kimmel as guest host.

Riverdale season 2 episode 3 review: The Watcher In The Woods

2.3 The Watcher In The Woods

Bottom line: This was an excellent episode that had character development aplenty and some genuinely unsettling moments.

Let's get my only issue with the instalment out of the way up-front: I was not a fan of how quickly the attack on Moose and Midge was rolled back. Last week's ending was shocking, and a call to arms that told viewers that anything could, and probably would, happen on this show. So for Moose and Midge to be as unscathed as they are given how dire things looked last week feels like a cop-out.

Freddy Krueger Launched Dead Ant Star Tom Arnold's Movie Career

Freddy Krueger Launched Dead Ant Star Tom Arnold's Movie Career
The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has helped launch many a film career in Hollywood, including Johnny Depp, Patricia Arquette, and Kelly Rowland, just to name a few. But none more notorious perhaps than the career of Tom Arnold. Halloween is almost here which means when we had the chance to speak with Tom Arnold about the new horror comedy Dead Ant, we couldn't resist the chance to get in a question about his relationship with MovieWeb's favorite horror movie killer Freddy Krueger.

The 58 year old actor and comedian, who earned an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance thanks to his supporting role in Arnold Schwarzenegger's True Lies, made his film debut in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, the supposed finale of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, which arrived in September 1991.

It was the height of tabloid fame for Arnold and his then wife, Roseanne Barr,

Gotham Season 4 Episode 5 Review – ‘The Blade’s Path’

Martin Carr reviews the fifth episode of Gotham season 4…

This week was more for the comic book aficionados than those after straightforward entertainment. For the first time in a while I had to look up references for Gotham rather than going on pure narrative twists and turns. My reasoning being the emergence of Solomon Grundy formally Butch Gilzean played by Drew Powell. Knowing nothing about this iconic character it seemed appropriate to find out more, which ultimately proved more interesting than almost everything else.

Looking like an albino version of The Incredible Hulk with Alice Cooper mascara, this non-verbal lumping homunculus visually reminded me of Mel Smith’s torturer in The Princess Bride. Incredibly strong, confused and looking for direction, Powell spends his time being set on fire, beating people up and forming an attachment to an unlikely ally. Somewhat different from the comic book origin story his purpose, intentions

2.2 Nighthawks

Oh man. That ending. Wow.

Before I tackle that shocking final scene, let's go back to the beginning. The start of this week's instalment is a seemingly simpler (though still kind of shitty) time for Archie and the gang compared to where we are when the credits roll. As the episode opens, Jughead's narration informs us that Pop Tate's Chok'lit Shoppe is the "heart of Riverdale." And indeed it may very well be. In fact, the main reason that Betty makes saving Pop's into her crusade du jour

October Horrors 2017 Day 17 – Prince of Darkness (1987)

Prince of Darkness, 1987.

Directed by John Carpenter.

Starring Donald Pleasance, Victor Wong, Jameson Parker, Lisa Blout, and Dennis Dun.

A group of university students are recruited by their professor and a local priest to solve the mystery regarding the nature of a large container with a mysterious green fluid within it. Unbeknownst to the students, the fluid is not only a living organism growing at a terrifying rate, but its evil plans could very well spell the end of not just the students, but the end of humanity itself.

John Carpenter is one of the most beloved and well-known directors in horror history, having created several of what many critics and fans consider to be the greatest and, in some cases, most important horror films of all time.

Earlier this month I looked at his brilliant 1982 masterpiece The Thing (which you can read here) a film which marked the

Jason Lives! – Friday The 13th Pt. VI Midnights This Weekend at The Moolah

“The only way to kill Jason is to send him back to his original resting place where he drowned in 1957.”

Jason Lives! – Friday The 13th Pt. VI screens Midnights this weekend (October 13th and 14th) at The Moolah Theater and Lounge (3821 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, Mo 63108) as part of Destroy the Brain’s monthly Late Nite Grindhouse film series.

By the summer of ’86, The Friday the 13th franchise was getting a bit tired, so it’s obvious that the makers of Jason Lives – Friday The 13th Pt. VI tried to spice things up and succeeded. It’s one of the very best of the series. .

A grown up Tommy (now played by Thom Mathews) goes to the cemetery to destroy Jason’s corpse once and for all. The horror gods aren’t too thrilled about that, so when Tommy rams a spear through Jason’s chest, lightning crashes down and
