Kim Kardashian West Dressed as Aaliyah for Halloween - and the Internet Is Not Pleased
Kim Kardashian West appeared to have the time of her life over Halloween weekend, with a trio of costumes (yes, a trio) to, as she said, pay homage to iconic music legends. But many social media users weren’t pleased when the reality TV star dressed as one of R&B’s most beloved singers: Aaliyah.

Kardashian West, 37, took on the late singer’s look from her 2001 hit “Try Again,” wearing a bejeweled choker, with a matching bra and black pants. Naturally, she showed off the costume on social media, writing, “Baby Girl Aaliyah.”

Social media users quickly took notice,

At the 1994 Billboard Music Awards that December, R. Kelly called Aaliyah, whom he had first met when she was 12, his "best friend in the whole, wide world." In 1998, R. Kelly won three Grammys for "I Believe I Can Fly," to date his most successful single. His questionable relationship with Aaliyah relegated to an asterisk at the time and not altogether widely known outside of the industry and hardcore R&B enthusiasts, the Recording Academy heartily rewarded the "Bump N...

R. Kelly Reflects on Child Pornography Case and Relationship With Aaliyah

R. Kelly Reflects on Child Pornography Case and Relationship With Aaliyah
Though he's all for musical "confessions," R. Kelly is hesitant to revisit the personal controversies that turned him into a tabloid fixture. For starters, the Grammy winner continues to refuse to speak publicly about the widely circulated reports (which he has denied) that he was once married to an underage Aaliyah, who died 15 years ago.  "I will never have that conversation with anyone," he told GQ. "Out of respect for Aaliyah, and her mother and father who has asked me not to personally. But I can tell you I loved her, I can tell you she loved me, we was very close. We were, you know, best best best best friends." While he remains tight-lipped about his alleged...

R. Kelly Gets Painfully Candid About Bill Cosby, Aaliyah, and Rape Accusations
In late December, when HuffPost Live journalist Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asked R. Kelly during a live interview to address the numerous sexual abuse allegations that have plagued his entire career, the singer cut her off, questioned her intelligence, and abruptly ended the interview. Kelly's interaction with GQ's Chris Heath, however, is a different story: In a sprawling, detailed new conversation that reads like a character evaluation (the interview ends with Heath trying to catch Kelly in a lie), Kelly is more or less an open book. No topic is off limits — the singer speaks on being sexually abused by a relative in more detail than he ever has before; his relationship with his presumed ex-wife, Aaliyah; accusations of sexual contact with underage women; and even Bill Cosby. He maintains his innocence — as he has done since the beginning, and did to Vulture last November — but clears the air
