Original Gremlins Star Launches Gremlins 3 Twitter Campaign

Even if Warner Bros. doesn't seem to be all that interested in making Gremlins 3 happen anymore, franchise star Zach Galligan refuses to give up on getting it made. The third Gremlins movie has been trapped somewhere in development hell for years, but now Galligan is taking matters into his own hands and starting a campaign to hopefully help actually get it done. Galligan has taken to Twitter to ask fans for support in the hopes that it will get the studio's attention.

Zach Galligan recently made a Twitter post, asserting that 2018 is a new year and, therefore, another chance to get Gremlins 3 made. With a picture of Gizmo accompanying the post, the actor said, "Hey, Giz! It's a brand new, super exciting year! Pretty neat, huh?" To which, in his fictional exchange, Gizmo replies, "Neat!" Then we get to the heart of the matter, as Galligan asks fans

Gremlins Almost Turned Gizmo Into the Villain

Gremlins Almost Turned Gizmo Into the Villain
Gremlins was almost a completely different movie with Gizmo set as the villain. The cult favorite Christmas movie would have been more of a horror movie as opposed to the kid-friendly cut of the movie that everybody knows and loves. During a recent Q&A session with Entertainment Weekly, Gremlins director Joe Dante revealed that Gizmo was supposed to turn into Stripe, the leader of the evil batch of gremlins in the 1984 horror-comedy. It was until a certain big-name director convened and fell in love with the adorable Mogwai, that Dante and writer Chris Columbus changed the movie.

During the Q&A session, Joe Dante revealed that it was Steven Spielberg who stepped in and said that they shouldn't get rid of Gizmo. In the early versions of the script Gizmo was only the cute little Mogwai for the first 20 minutes of the movie. Dante explains.

"Gizmo was supposed to,

The Bottom Shelf: Return Of The Living Dead 3, The Evil Within and The Jerk, Too

Nick Aldwinckle Sep 14, 2017

Our round up of horror and genre DVDs and Blu-rays returns, with some solid titles, and The Jerk sequel...

So, whilst Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump are comparing the size of their nuclear weapons and super-storms are battering the world’s coastlines, the head of Nato is describing the present moment as the “most dangerous in a generation”. With any luck, the inevitable apocalypse may bring with it some fun real-life zombie larks to bring some light to the fast-approaching nuclear winter: what more prescient documentary-drama could there be, therefore, than Re-Animator cult hero Brian Yuzna’s Return Of The Living Dead 3?

Resurrected this month on Blu-ray as part of the gloriously tacky Vestron Video Collection, the second sequel to Dan O'Bannon’s classic eighties comedy horror adopts more of an angsty nineties tone as the monster-making Trioxin chemical returns to cause havoc all over again,

Gremlins 3 still alive, Chris Columbus gives update on script

Simon Brew Aug 16, 2017

Chris Columbus reveals he's finished the script for Gremlins 3, and that it's "twisted and dark".

Amongst the list of projects missing presumed dead was a revival of the Gremlins film series. Chris Columbus, who penned the original film, had been working on a screenplay for a new movie, but nothing had been heard of it for some time. It had been assumed that its moment had passed.

An incorrect assumption that, though. Columbus, in a new interview with Slashfilm, has confirmed that he’s now actually completed a screenplay for Gremlins 3, and that it’s now over to Warner Bros.

“I’m really proud of the script”, Columbus said. “It is as twisted and dark as anything, so we’ll see”.

“It’s always a budgetary conversation when we’re going to shoot it. I wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie.

Dark, Twisted Gremlins 3 Script Considers Killing Off Gizmo

It has been nearly three decades since Gremlins 2: The New Batch was released and yet, we still haven't had another entry in the franchise. But it hasn't been for a lack of trying. Director Chris Columbus, who is executive producing Gremlins 3 and writing the sequel, did not particularly enjoy the second movie. Columbus, who created the original Gremlins characters and story, as directed by Joe Dante, has he's been working on reboot for a while now. He's now confirmed that he's finished the script. According to him, it is pretty dark and even addresses the possibility of killing off the lovable Mogwai Gizmo.

Chris Columbus recently spoke with Slash Film while promoting the festival hit Patti Cakes, which he produced. He was asked about Gremlins 3 and where that currently stands. He says that the script is done, but as usual with these things, it keeps coming down to budgetary conversations.

Chris Columbus on his dark and twisted script for Gremlins 3

  • JoBlo
It's been close to thirty years since the release of Gremlins 2: The New Batch, and fans have been wondering for years just when the destructive monsters would return. Zach Galligan, who played Billy Peltzer in both movies, indicated two years ago that the potential project would not be a remake, but a continuation along the same lines as Jurassic World or Star Wars: The Force Awakens, meaning... Chris Columbus Says The Completed Script For Gremlins 3 Is “Twisted And Dark”

Back in 2016, Gremlins star Zach Galligan revealed that Chris Columbus – the writer of that original 1984 movie – was hard at work on a script for Gremlins 3. This was somewhat surprising, given that Columbus is known to have been unhappy with the direction in which 1990’s Gremlins 2 took his foundational ideas. It was exciting for the same reason, though – if anyone could bring the Gremlins property back on track, it’s the man who invented it in the first place, right?

For those unfamiliar, Gremlins is the popular horror-comedy, written by Columbus and directed by Joe Dante. It follows the adventures of Billy Peltzer (Galligan), as he gets to grips with a strange and mysterious pet Mogwai named Gizmo that his father acquires for him from an antique store in Chinatown. Billy is told, in no uncertain terms, that there are three rules when it comes to owning a Mogwai:

Chris Columbus Talks About The "Twisted and Dark" Script For Gremlins 3

We've known that Chris Columbus has been working on a script for Gremlins 3 for a few years. Well, he has a completed script for the film and he recently talked about it and revealed some details in an interview with /Film.

This is a project that I've been pretty excited about. I'd love to revisit this story and the characters that fill it. We previously learned that story would take 30 years after the original film and it would continue that story. We also heard that Gremlins star Zack Galligan would reprise his role as Billy.

When talking about the script that has been written, Columbus says:

“I’m really proud of the script. It is as twisted and dark as anything, so we’ll see. It’s always a budgetary conversation when we’re going to shoot it. I wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie.

Gremlins Midnights at The Tivoli this Weekend

“You say you hate Washington’s Birthday or Thanksgiving and nobody cares, but you say you hate Christmas and people treat you like you’re a leper.”

Gremlins plays midnights this weekend (May 5th and 6th) at The Tivoli Theater as part of the Reel late at The Tivoli Midnight series.

It’s Christmas in American picture-postcard town Kingston Falls. Billy Peltzer is given an unusual present; a cute little furry creature called a Mogwai. He is delighted with the gift until he accidentally gets it wet and it quickly multiplies. Worse still is to come when the new creatures are fed after midnight and transform into horribly mischievous Gremlins

Gremlins (1984) is a fabulous flick, because it somehow manages to be both a sentimental good-natured modern-day fairytale, and an uproariously riotous comic horror film that stomps all over the nice wholesome image of Christmas and small-town America. The script by

Zach Galligan gives an update on Gremlins 3

For the past few years, there’s been frequent talk of a new instalment in the Gremlins franchise – either as a remake of the original movie, or a “reinvention” of the series – and for a while in 2015 it even looked close to becoming a reality as Warner Bros. tried to fast track the project into production.

Since late 2015 we’ve had no further word on its status, with the project seemingly stuck in development hell. However, during an interview with Bleeding Cool, star Zach Galligan has provided an update, confirming that it would indeed be a sequel rather than a reboot, and that original writer Chris Columbus is still actively pursuing it.

“There is a huge time gap but it’s Warner Bros, Spielberg and Chris Columbus. Now, Chris Columbus didn’t have anything to do with Gremlins 2 – because by his own admission he didn’t see a franchise.
