‘Twin Peaks’: See The Show’s Creepy Cool Golden Globe Awards Mailer — Exclusive
Twin Peaks” is relying on Laura Palmer to help it face off in this year’s Golden Globes race.

IndieWire has managed to secure the Showtime show’s “For Your Consideration” mailer for Hollywood Foreign Press Association members, and it’s definitely a must-see collectible for any fan of the David Lynch revival.

Because “Twin Peaks” aired during the summer, it wasn’t eligible for this past September’s Emmys — which means this represents the revival’s first shot at awards consideration. The show is competing in the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category, and it’s considered a front-runner.

But leaving nothing to chance, hellooooo, the awards team at Showtime came up with a rather cool package meant to be sent exclusively to Globes voters.

First Look: Robert Pattinson & Mia Wasikowska In ‘Damsel’

The Zellner Brothers made their distinct, directorial style known with the endearing and oddball, “Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter.” That put them on the radar of cinephile Robert Pattinson, and now the trio have teamed up for the wacky western, “Damsel.”

Also starring Mia Wasikowska, Robert Forster, Joe Billingiere, and the directors themselves, Pattinson has previously described the movie as “a kind of slapstick comedy.” Oh, he’ll also be playing music in it too.

Film Review: ‘Acts of Vengeance’

Film Review: ‘Acts of Vengeance’
Revenge for the death of family members is a frequent boilerplate hook for mid-budget action movies, and that formula could hardly get a more perfunctory recycling than in “Acts of Vengeance.” This slick-enough mediocrity will pass the time tolerably for less discriminating genre fans. But it’s a little sad to see Antonio Banderas reduced to a B movie with grade-c material, even if you’re curious to see him, at age 58, rise to the occasion of the requisite training montage and kick-boxing moves that martial arts-oriented helmer Issac Florentine serves up here.

Frank Valera (Banderas) is a high-powered corporate defense lawyer who lives for his wife and daughter, but unfortunately has little time for them. Typically, he’s stuck at the office, then in downpour-stalled traffic long enough to miss his child’s talent-show recital. (Unfortunately, the audience catches her singing performance.) Remorse turns to concern when the duo don’t return home that night. Later

Hilary Swank Toplining Sci-Fi Thriller “I Am Mother”

Swank in “Mary and Martha

Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank has lined up her next role. Variety reports that Swank will star in “I Am Mother,” a mother-daughter story with a sci-fi twist. The feature has already begun production at South Australia’s Adelaide Studios.

I Am Mother” also stars Clara Rugaard (“Still Star-Crossed”) as “the first of a new generation of humans raised by ‘Mother’ — a kindly robot designed to repopulate the earth following the extinction of mankind.” The young woman’s bond with Mother and entire worldview come into question when Swank’s blood-soaked character bursts on the scene.

Director Grant Sputore came up with the original idea for “I Am Mother” and Michael Lloyd Green penned the 2016 Black List script. Producing the film are Anna Vincent, Southern Light Films’ Timothy White, the Penguin Empire’s Kelvin Munro, and Green. Rhea Films’ Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Terry Dougas, and Jean-Luc De Fanti are exec producing, as are Bryce Menzies, Philip Wade, John Wade, and Sputore.

Mister Smith Entertainment will manage “I Am Mother’s” international sales, and Wme Global’s Graham Taylor will handle its U.S. sales. Studiocanal is responsible for the film’s Australia and New Zealand distribution.

“It is a privilege to welcome Hilary Swank to our film,” Sputore said. “She is a remarkable performer who always brings tremendous commitment and honesty to the screen. I’m excited about the journey ahead with Hilary and the talented Clara Rugaard.”

Swank won Academy Awards for her lead performances in sports drama “Million Dollar Baby” and Kimberly Peirce’s transgender-themed biopic “Boys Don’t Cry.” You can catch Swank next in Elizabeth Chomko’s all-star directorial debut, “What They Had,” currently in post-production. Her character returns home to help her brother (Michael Shannon) take of their Alzheimer’s-stricken mother (Blythe Danner) and father (Robert Forster), who is in denial about his wife’s condition. Swank’s recent credits include “Logan Lucky,” “You’re Not You,” and “The Homesman.”

Hilary Swank Toplining Sci-Fi Thriller “I Am Mother” was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Fantastic Fest 2017 Review: King Cohen is a Lively and Entertaining Celebration of a Filmmaking Pioneer

  • DailyDead
While his roots may be in television, it’s most likely his indelible work in cinema as a writer/director/producer that has made filmmaking maverick Larry Cohen such an influential force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. With a professional career that kicked off in the late 1950s, Cohen has yet to slow down at all, and it’s that enduring creative spirit that King Cohen documentarian Steve Mitchell celebrates in his loving and lively look back at the brazen trail that Cohen has journeyed on thus far.

In King Cohen, Mitchell takes us all the way back to the beginning of Cohen’s life, as we hear stories about Larry’s childhood in New York City, and how his experiences growing up there continued to define him, especially in his film work, which was usually set around the Big Apple, or in New York in general. Cohen also

Twin Peaks: was this the long, perfect goodbye from David Lynch?

Twin Peaks: the Return was the culmination of Lynch’s life’s work. But its last, weary moments were surely proof that he’s bowing out on us

David Lynch’s debut Eraserhead was the greatest home movie ever made. Shot over five years in a disused stable block behind the American Film Institute where the director was living at the time, it was painstakingly constructed frame by frame by a group of committed friends – the very definition of a labour of love. Exactly 40 years later, Lynch has just completed his most personal project since. Twin Peaks: the Return may have had a starry cast, cutting-edge digital effects and an 18-hour run time. But at heart, it was just another home movie: the work of an artist coming full circle, incorporating everything he’s learned in four decades as a filmmaker back into the hands-on, Diy template he established with his first film.
