This was the best movie of the year by far. It was the most enjoyable movie I have seen in years. It was epic, and romantic, and moving, and action-packed, and kind of funny, and heartbreaking. Mix Phantom of the Opera with the French Revolution and movies about Fugitives and you would get Les Mis. Take the whole family to see this one.
2. Django Unchained (2012)
R | 165 min | Drama, Western
With the help of a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.
Votes: 1,096,845 | Gross: $162.81M
If Tarantino directed, it is in the top 3.
3. Argo (2012)
R | 120 min | Biography, Drama, Thriller
Acting under the cover of a Hollywood producer scouting a location for a science fiction film, a CIA agent launches a dangerous operation to rescue six Americans in Tehran during the U.S. hostage crisis in Iran in 1979.
Votes: 500,654 | Gross: $136.03M
A little overrated, Argo is pretty interesting if you are into government conspiracies.
4. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
R | 122 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance
After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.
Votes: 584,990 | Gross: $132.09M
One of the best comedy-dramas ever made
5. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
PG-13 | 164 min | Action, Thriller
Eight years after the Joker's reign of anarchy, Batman, with the help of the enigmatic Catwoman, is forced from his exile to save Gotham City, now on the edge of total annihilation, from the brutal guerrilla terrorist Bane.
Votes: 1,277,812 | Gross: $448.14M
Much anticipated sequel to The Dark Knight, I don't know if this one tops it, but definitely the best super-hero movie of the last couple of years.
6. Flight (I) (2012)

An airline pilot saves almost all his passengers on his malfunctioning airliner which eventually crashed, but an investigation into the accident reveals something troubling.

7. Ted (2012)
R | 106 min | Comedy, Fantasy
John Bennett, a man whose childhood wish of bringing his teddy bear to life came true, now must decide between keeping the relationship with the bear or his girlfriend, Lori.
Votes: 510,280 | Gross: $218.82M
Probably one of the funniest movies of all time, Ted is like if your teddy bear came to life and got hooked on crack.
8. Seven Psychopaths (2012)
R | 110 min | Comedy, Crime
A struggling screenwriter inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends kidnap a gangster's beloved Shih Tzu.

Earth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.
Votes: 1,081,440 | Gross: $623.36M
Okay, I am not a big one for superhero movies, but this was definitely one of the best of the Marvel movies I have seen.
