Cinema Shambat

Cinema invites us to an experience - both virtual and affective - in which we may sometimes relate to our lives and the lives of others. Like music, a movie is only relevant when it touches us one way or another, not when some ratings decide. The following list claims then no ratings. It is simply a list of invitations to some movies I feel I could risk recommending to some cinema's lovers.

Terrence Malick in his element! No better comment on this movie than the one made by Roger Ebert. He calls it a prayer for grace, " A prayer beneath the Tree of Life " - “Many films diminish us. They cheapen us, masturbate our senses, hammer us with shabby thrills, diminish the value of life. Some few films evoke the wonderment of life's experience, and those I consider a form of prayer" - Roger Ebert @ http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2011/05/a_prayer_beneath_the_tree_of_l.html

You may be right if you say a recorded theatrical piece is not much of theatre. But we are talking here about one of the best poetic take on stage of Marat/Sade - Peter Weiss play, an all-time lyrical masterpiece. If you love theatre like I do, it is a must-see. You can at least get an idea of what Brook means by the Holy Theatre: the Theatre of the Invisible-Made-Visible.
