The climax of this movie is when the tingler escapes in a movie theatre at the moment of a silent film showing. We get a lot to see of the silent film (film-within-a-film). Furthermore William Castle as well as the narrator involve the audience directly by talking to them and by use of several gimmicks (the introduction of "percepto"). This is not just a monster movie, it's also a film about the experience of film itself.

And another movie with a mute character - and again in combination with silent film.
